Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the Banphaeo International Eye Hospital (the “Hospital”) building located in Banphaeo General Hospital (Public Organization), Banphaeo District, Samut Sakhon.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted a royal audience to Mr. Paul Wong Chee Kin, President and Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Thai Bank, and graciously bestowed the Royal Commemorative Pin to him. All employees of CIMB Thai Bank and its affiliated companies have humbly expressed profound gratitude to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in recognition of CIMB Thai Bank, in collaboration with Banphaeo International Eye Hospital, for various projects undertaken continuously since 2015 to raise funds for the construction of the Banphaeo International Eye Hospital building. Here are some examples of the projects.

  • The Bank has produced a short film titled "Best True Story," which tells the real-life story of patients receiving eye treatment from Dr. Pornthep Pongtawigorn. The film was presented to the Hospital for public relations purposes, encouraging the public to participate in fundraising efforts to construct the Hospital. This Hospital is considered the country's first community-funded eye hospital.
  • The Bank has raised funds through various activities, including Gala Dinners.
  • The Bank has organized a Redemption Points program for Preferred customers, allowing them to convert accumulated reward points into charitable donations.
  • In 2019, the Bank organized the “Thod Phapa Mahakusol” (Buddhism’s Robe Offering) Project, contributing 99,999 sets of robes and receiving the Royal Grace from His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, to graciously accept this offering under his patronage.

Furthermore, the Bank has been able to raise funds to support the construction through various aforementioned activities, in collaboration with employees and customers, totaling approximately THB 9,436,200. As a result, by the year 2022, the Hospital has been able to provide comprehensive eye care services for all types of eye-related complex diseases. It also serves as a referral center for ophthalmic diseases and corneal transplantation within the 5th health service area.

The Hospital is still in need of medical equipment and tools. We cordially invite you to make donations to the following bank account at CIMB Thai Bank: Account Number 700-798239-0, Account Name: Banphaeo General Hospital (Public Organization), Fund for the Construction of Banphaeo International Eye Hospital. Donations are eligible for a tax deduction equivalent to double the donated amount.
