Agriculture Training for Hill Tribe Children of Wat Chao Boon Kerd School, Angtong Province

CIMB Thai Bank joined Ang Thong's Ministry of Land Development to build a permanent culture house for fish, mushroom culture and catfish fishery in a cemented pool. The project aimed to produce adequate food to supply hill tribe students residing full-time in the school with 3 meals a day. The students also gained hands-on knowledge and direct experience in agriculture. The skills gained in the process were valuable; helping them sustain themselves and which could be transferred to their native regions for further development. In addition, we also gave funding to teachers to participate in a seminar aimed at developing their agricultural knowledge and project management. It was open to volunteers—up to 300 people—to contribute to the schools; such as painting the basketball field and playground equipments, planting vetiver grass and fundraising for the purchase of students’ uniform. And we also invited Jamsai Publishing to participate in building additional school library.
